NEWVEC Project White Tail

Project White Tail, led by the New England Center of Excellence in Vector-borne Diseases (NEWVEC), studies how white-tailed deer contribute to tick populations and tick-borne disease risk. Using a controlled research site (C–VERS) with a managed deer herd, researchers test safe methods—such as treatments or immunization—to reduce ticks on deer.
The goal is to develop practical, scalable strategies to lower tick populations and reduce disease risk in affected regions.
